I have been looking for a small tractor to do my landscaping and then plan on selling it when I am done. I live in northen california and there are not a lot of used tractors. I will mainly be using the tractor for moving large amounts of dirt, rocks, bark, and sod. However, I do want to buy a post hole digger with possible down pressure to dig all the holes for my plants/trees. My question is will this tractor with only 12.5 HP be enough? My lot does have a lot of cobble in the ground, but it has already been graded. I will primarily be building mounds. But the cobble worries me for the digging of tree holes. I was also thinking of trenching with the unit. I found an older man who is the original owner of a tractor who has used it for moving firewood and occasional dirt. The unit is spotless! It has 80 hours and comes with a box scraper. $9500.00 is as low as the guy will go. I have priced out the 7510 and the BX2230. By the time I pay tax and buy a box scraper I figure I will save about $3,000.00 on the 2230 and abou $4000 on the 7510. So do you think #1 This is a fair price considering the lack of any used units where I live #2 Does this unit have enough HP for what I am looking to do? Especially the hole digging and trenching. ( it looks like the lift capacity is about the same) #3 Which unit would I loose more money on in resale. The used B7300 at $9500.00 or the one of the new units? I did drive the unit and Power steering would be nice but I can live without it.

That price sounds very high to me. A new BX 1500 has more horses and would be (I think) the same price.

Are you willing to take a drive to save money? There is a high volume Kubota dealer in Portland that offers rock bottom prices and there is no sales tax up there. ....

That is a good idea. What is the name of the dealer? Do you think the 2230 would be a a better option for what I am trying to do and for resale? ....

Moen Equiptment, ask for Brock.

Newer Kubota's all have a very good resale value and 2230's are very desirable for smaller properties. ....

Power is often a trade off for time. A larger bucket will get the hauling done faster............... A larger bucket normally comes with more horsepower. Any way you look at it the 7300 only has the reliable armstrong power steering system. ....
